Brian aka 布莱恩 说: Just a week after graduation

The week had been pretty monotonous with myself helping out in the school lab, well of cos the helpings came with a decent service allowance of 6 bucks an hour. The part-timing simply called for a brianless routine in clearing up those mess created by the previous fyp students. Beakers here and unwanted samples there and almost dirty bottles everywhere. Then came a more challenging task when one of the senior tech asked me to put together his logistic list.... Weeee~ thats tons of chemicals laying right there for me to sort out. Just as I though this could maybe take me for some time, another interesting task came along....
.
.
The chef-tech dumped me a safety manual about 50++ pages thick and asked me to read through. "For what?" I said to myself, and later realized that he actually wanted me to set a safety quiz for those year (1) undergrads..... HeeHee, thats was fun!!! I managed to wrapped up the most difficult (True / False) questions in the world and some multiple questions.... Am I being too mean, well, now then I understand how "shiok" is to set mean questions and see those blur* faces when the students took them....
.
.
Hmmm, life after graduation? It can take a short break of 4 months since I'm heading back to the Army to finish the remaining service. Thus everything and anything comes later pals...
.
.
In meantime, looking forward to tomorrow steamboat buffet + a close friend's wedding + FYP presentation + Tour de Taipei..................... + my dear's birthday coming right up and she's aiming at a really good deal of stuffs.............. sickening yeah~~~

布莱恩 说: Guide to Man's Survival (The 5 Sounds)

The 5 basic sounds that make you a better husband, boyfriend and even as a son to your mother. Now, had it occured to you (as a male-being) sandwiched in a situation whereby you had to hear the complains of the ladies in your life, but no matter how attentively you may looked in the listening process, or even suggesting tons of solutions to help her out... It more or less often ended up us (males) getting all the blames here & there, sometimes it seems that after all those tons of solutions we offered, we are like adding more troubles onto our loved ones (females) than was before they poured their sorrows at the MANs....
.
.
Solutions ain't what they desired & this is the hard-core facts that's needed to be drilled into every mans' head. What you should do is to try making some sounds, and it will guarantee your survival after at the END. Below are the TOP 5 sounds I thought of within the past few years, well, as a boyfriend to a lovely lady....
.
.
Sound (1): ooOooOh~~~
Let's starts off with this sound at the beginging of the conversation. This signify you are paying attention to what she is about to tell you, and of cos this has to couple with looking at her in the eyes, else it will not works. It also represent that you are putting down the things in your hands (be it's as important as saving the world) and being with her at that point of time. Once she felt secure that you are listening, her stories will start, plus a good start-off will often means half-way success!
.
.
Sound (2): Hai~~
This word is powerful enough to make her lean over your shoulders. Making this sound will make her realized that you are actually sympathizing with her plight, and also acknowledging that her problem is not a "chicken-feet" case. It makes her feel you are trying hard to understand and realize this problem (regardless of how you think) of her's. This also often served as the second stage of confirmation in the "attentively listening protocol".
.
.
Sound (3): Hmmm~
Yes you are just on the right track brother, producing this sound means you are putting yourself in her shoes and started thinking through what she had suffered (inmeantime you have to for-go the thoughs of how meaningless her problems might be) all these times. Coupled with a frown on the face and with a deep tone perfected this 3rd sound. She be grate to see you in deep thoughs in understanding her problems, well although you might just be day-dreaming brothers!
.
.
Sound (4): arrrrhhh~
Hold back your horses brothers till this stage and don't ever suggest any solutions yet. Making this sounds right after she said or explained how will she do to re-solve her problem will make her feel better. She will be happy hearing this as you agreeing to her methods of solving and her views on the situation. Looks serious and no funny cheeky smile on your face will pull through well!
.
.
Sound (5): Eeeeee~
All right! You signify that clearly that you had have everything she said just now in your nut head and feel digusted on the person or situation that pissed her off. Well, for all this also the only solution aka sound that you have to make in the end.
.
.
Anything happens after the fifth sound, well, just mix and play around with the rest in random order and believe me! YOU Will SURVIVE~

布莱恩 说: University Life (Final Chapter)

The time was 4pm sharp and the annoucement came right across the hall, "Please stop writing! & staple all related scripts together and wait for the ~" Putting down my lucky pen and glaring around, its suddenly been clear that the time is really up, this final paper marks the end of my 3 years in Nanyang Technological University (NTU). As much as I would like to mention, time really flies~
.
.
With a little bit of gratitude that my student years were finally over now, there's been more of an insecure plus lost kind of feeling messing around in my mind. Don't anyone just hate the moment of phase changes in LIFE? Well, we change the ways we dress, speak, eat, move and even the way of treating people everytime at some particular stages in our life... Sometime like when we moved from junior school to high school and later moving to a colleage or university.... We like to change our hairstyles, the friends we mixed around too.... Finally now, I got to learn to adjust my lifestyle to a working WORLD~ And wonder how this new phase will turn out to be? Will a life-long dream of mine be fufilled? God knows~
.
.
Before I step into this vast world of unknowns, I would like to send some thanks to some of my special friends, although I'm not sure if they can get a chance to see this but I still wish to send me full blessing to them!!!

布莱恩 说: How I spend a day-off~

Many friends know me as someone who always do cycling for almost all the days when I'm free, but today I'm kind of sharing another stuff I enjoy doing beside the usual date with my bike. Maybe somedays when you're free & you might wish to try...
.
.
My another usual hangout is well none other than hanging out at Orchard rd, the Kinokuniya bookstore. For a very simple reason I can give is I get to flip through many many kinds or styles of books on every visits. Although I rarely purchase books on every trips made down there, I do enjoy the time spent and it could just stretch through hours before I'm willing to leave. And Jill will be pissed off to my book-fliping cum reading stamina...
.
.
The place is well-deco, air-conditioned, sometimes with some nice music going on but best of all, the books. I usually started off with the new books section or the best-sellers... They may range from all sorts of catagories. I read books on cooking & dinning, business related books and even history. I enjoy alot on travelling books or magazines that feature beautiful places in the world, and never forgetting the biking magazine on the mag- shelfs. Comic always comes last as many of them are wrap up... But recently I explore more to the chinese writing corner as some books are really fantastic. They can be on life enrichment, personal bios, beauty maintainance and the lists keep going on and on~
.
.
The reader digest articles never once fail to bore me, the unique display of those dino eggs and models appeals to me and even down to those funny Tarot cards available for people who believe in them. Fengshui book and those other religion ones often keeping me amazed too! Strolling down the bookstore is just an relaxing and fufilling thing to spend a day-off... So far no rude people there nor noisy kids chasing around, well except the comic sections, but overall I'm cool with it.
.
.
The best thing is everytime I step out of that place, I felt like going around the world one time, plus being to the past and perhaps sometimes to the future world... So folks, got time can visit that place to and I garanteed that there's sure at least one stuff that capture you!
.
.
(Thus, there's actually something else I do mah beside cycling only~ HAHAHA)

布莱恩 说: The Get Back!!!

NEVER, and I really meant NEVER once mess around with woman(unless they don't know who did it & of cos not appearing as a suspect too), for especially old ones or your ending will most probably tune up to be the same as mine!!!!
.
.
Alot of friends know my family got two HDB flats, while one for my grandparents and the other for us. But for most of the day, my grands' will be moving around on my side of the apartment rather than their's.... Probably wish to spend more time with the younger generations BUT thats when the problems slip in. Their daily routine starts from 2AM in the morning, yes yes thats right as most old folks couldn't sleep much and stretches to the next day around 8PM plus then they went to bed.Well, they were Orchid (the flower) farm owner once so waking up darm early in the morning is in their blood for quite a long time. Noises is something which you will expect of at the begining of 2AM plus plus since they're bright awake but years past and gradually all of us get the use of it.
.
.
OK OK, now into the topic folks.... Oldies often have a wide differences of lifestyle habits as we do, the issue on on-ing fans, aircons, too many lights and even to the use of tissue papers they have to comment on it and often than not, we end up to be blamed.
.
.
On Monday, my fridge got this mango syrup (which my grandma brought), something you need to dilute with water prior to drinking yeah. When me and my sis were enjoying much of it, it soon end up with just a little bit left in the bottle.... The next evening when we went back to the fridge for the mango syrup, I took the bottle out and "wooooah, its heavy" Before I think its a new bottle, well not loh.... some people added water into the bottle and the diluting skills sucks big time as the whole jucie inside appears gel-like and disggusted~ Comes a voice from my back "drink drink lah, can drink one" - from my grandma.... YES, the person hidden behind the water adding definatelty got to be her!!!!!!! She has always been the most "kinda of disturbing" character in the family and even my grandpa complains too....... She always add water to finishing washing detergents, shampoo, facial cream and now our MANGO SYRUP!!!!! you know if those left alittle bit more stuff can use a bit more times, but once water is added, GONE!!!! OMG!!!!
.
.
So I turned around asking who added, no once confess although we knew who did it. While she kept saying its drinkable.... I suggested to pour her one cup, yet she say she dun drink this kind of stuffs.... SO i kept asking who did it , and finally she said somethings like this "MUST be your grandpa lahhh, he always did this"..... Diaoooooo~ Says who?
.
.
The night came and when my mom got to know this, she dump the bottle away straight down the bin. HAHAHA, the next day my grandma cannot find the bottle and started to aim me at all sort of things i do for the next few days.... Basically she dun believe anyone can finish the drink in one night so she assume I (ME) threw it away!!!!!!!!!!!!! Noooooo, its my MOM!!!!
TO BE CONTINUED.......

布莱恩 说: Business ideas 2006 (Need Helps)

Comparing within the Asia Pacific regions, there isn't any established sports advisory business that goes around coaching athletes or even residents to correctly do the sports nor even making them to excel in them. Certain sports such as golfing, rugby and cycling are some of the sports that are well-participated around the world, but apparently the european and the americans often dominate these sports, while asians lacks behind. The difference is they have, pretty often employ the help of external sports advisory companies, rather than just depending only on national team coaches like asians do. To state an senario: "Isn't is wonderful to have a full-asian team participating in TDF?"
.
While scrolling through an professional sports coaching company (CARMICHAEL), based in the States. The idea suddenly stuck me with operating one such company here in Singapore, the regional hub. So now besides having the IR to boast tourism, and the investment in diverse arts and performance that bring this small country further up the world map, isn't it good to start people realizing the possibilities to make this country a professional sports center in promoting sports. If talks about experience in running such business, one can consider a joint-venture with the more experienced ones or even a franchise. Training grounds can spread over some of the asia-pacific countries and trainers could be employed from all over the world.
.
Now is there such a demand? Compare to the Americans, asia countries often prefer carefully hand-picking the sports that they think their people will perform well in, and forgo the rest. And these other sports talents went down the drain without realising their dreams.Bringing such concept of bringing the asian appearances in such sports (eg. cycling) and make them perform (well) will definately be a big business.
.
This is the preliminary concept of my business idea, and of cos that more serious planning and evaluation is required. By posting online, i hope some people out there will be also seriously consider such idea of mine and maybe we can work things out?
.
.
.
Cheers

布莱恩 说: "我的第二年由南大"

Anyway, the chinese wordings just said "my second year in NTU". Been abit distracted on the issues on the previous 2 posts, so lets bring everyone back to the 2nd year during NTU life.
.
.
I spent half of my days for the second year in school, while the other half doing my internship. Apart from all the regular khakis, I happened to be the only one going for the first round of internship program. Pretty sucks in the begining because it meant we ain't seeing one another that frequently say for about a year. For the start, the internship pays really well for a novice that didn't require much brain-work, basically I performed more like a office boy rather than involving the more related works in the department. Although the name of the company sounded nice on any resume, the nature of the work tends to rather pull me down from the "appealing to the recruiter face". They were often wondering why in the hell a 'engineering fellow' intern-ing at a retail marketing department. Putting aside the welfare and benefits during my stay in the company, I'm also grateful that I met some really good people in there, although the least fortunate thing is we'll ain't in anymore contacts. So, everyone moves on.... During my third month stay during the internship program, I started to observe a interesting scene. People comes to office days after days, months after months, and years after years, so have they wonder where in this world they are heading?
.
.
When one person goes for the higher a pursue in accademic levels, he/she gets more timid in life. Now, very few have seen a phd person in marketing or material engineering goes sell clothes at Hereen place nor setting up art gallery., do you? So once this people gets into a job that pays fairly well and see stability in the next 5-10 years, they just dig their roots deeper and deeper into that route. Timid is the best description as non will be risk-takers anymore and the original dreams of becoming whatsoever will tend to drift further and further away from one self. But Security is another hidden word behind it as the stable job allows you to sometimes indulge in your original dream somehow~.
.
.
Well, example: I dreamt of becoming an astronomer, a chef and sometimes a artist during my kids to teenage years... But later found great interests in cycling so a new dream of riding in the TDF become the newest goal.... But as how reality gets so real in life, dream is often still pretty far from real. SO, what to do? hahaha, Buy bikes and ride around lohzzzz..... And so this is how dreams turned into a "hobby"...... and very often we become pleased with it. So its really envy for those who really found their true belongings in something they do everyday.... Bless them well man.
.
.
2nd part of my second year in NTU, hmmmm urrrrr..... If I'm still clear of what it is all about (old memories flashing back in head), its kind of projects, meetings, quizs, presentation, data collections so on so for.... Ain't no break dude, just ain't no break.. but its alot more fun when group of us sit together to solve projects problems!!! hahaha, am crazy right but its the only time we get to know one another better = via interactions....... So many thanks to MS305 team (yongqiang, alex, cheryl, liting, xiaoping) & my fav. HRM team (BG, helena, alvin, peng, joson, xiaomei) Without u'll, things will never be done. Then exams, then well choose FYP, then final year~~~~
.
.
While all these times, pingpong pig never once left my side...... Boooooooooo~
.
.
cheers!

BRIANC: Shoo~ Shoo~ Disappointments

It's hardly in life anyone will get away without feeling disappointed at somethings, sometimes. But I would have to say if disappointments come straight at you on a continuous basis, that's really freaky aka "sway" (hokkien meaning unlucky)! With so much things going on changing around in my life right now, the least I gotton so far is good luck, while last thing I hope for is more disappointments.... (Guess lady luck didn't got the email I sent her so far, or maybe she's on a vacation, hmmmmm~)
.
.
I'm getting more acceptive to the fact I still need to serve my country after graduating instead of following my peers in searching for jobs. And truly a blessing that the government is sharing some of its money on the peasants. And just when things start to smoothen its way through, I faced another disappointing event yesterday. After receiving the call, I rushed down back school early in the morning to get back my fyp report. Apparently I missed out a few details to the entire thing, but what disappointed me most is hearing :" I doubt you can score an A grade for this although you started off pretty well..." Urrhhhhh Ohhhhhhh Noooooo~
.
.
Come on, its really struck me down imagining with all the efforts that went down this past a year of hard work and I got this sentence.... WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. Its something like bringing the ball to the goal line and you suddenly slip and break your bone. OR hitting onto the green in 2 stokes on a Par5 with hope of an eagle, but ending up a 2 over-Par! But seriously I never once score well under his care; Maths (C), 305 project (B), IA (B) and now fyp report probably............ sobsobsob~
.
.
I'm just not blaming anyone and this is by far the most disappointing thing that happens in year 06. Don't yo just hate '06!!!!???? Never to worry that much, I still got my hands and feets and with the 大长今 spirit in me, giving up is no way! In meantime, let's hope lady luck remeber to check her mailbox for those needy......
.
.
Just want to let every friends know, there ain't no flat road in this world nor is any 100% flat & calm or easygoing life in this world too. Its the contours of the paths that bring out the best in people, well, although sometimes the dark side surface too.... BUT, with all hopes in life and as what NIKE symbol teaches" JUST DO IT"
Cheers!

BRIANC: Truth on a man's spending habits

Did it ever occur to you that your mom, wife or even girlfriend , that in most senarios of your life really cannot figure out why you got to spend that amount of money on that particular item? If your answer is yes (for a guy), well its perfectly normal as all girls in the world or perhaps most of them will never in their life straighten their frequeny onto our man's wavelength. Basically its the same thing as we (men) don't really kind of understand why they have to own soooo many pairs of shoes, dresses and even spending that much of money on nails make-over. But the smart thing most men do is learning how to entertain. Yes, to entertain to their activities.
.
.
When a guy follow a female to the hairdresser, it seems pretty boring for any guys to wait hours for them to finish their treatments, colour, perm, cut, wash, etc..... Now, have you wonder why there're tons of magazines there, well its to save the guy! And another situation whereby both enter a shoe shop, ladies do really fancy shoes and the times they spend there is sometimes often quite long~ And now have you wonder why there are this many benches or sofas laying around? well, they are meant for the guys to take 5 on those sits..... So men learn to co-operate but in once in a blue moon, girls MUST also try their best to lossen the collar of guys.... thats learning how to entertain back.
.
.
Here are some of my spending habits which could be of reference to someone out there? Guys, show this to your girlfriends or wife and while girls, so spend a min on this~
.
Cases
Situation 1: I intending/going to spend a few thousand on my fav. gadget ( a road bike).
Reason: The money goes into the delicate design and construction of the bike, which allows comfort riding and stability on the road. This reduce the danger of riding as the bike wouldn't just break into two while riding. Yes THEY DO BREAK IF QUALITY IS bad .Safety is in concern!
.
Situation 2: Spending money on game (PS2, Xbox, PSP, etc)
Reason: It's the most popular mean for most guys in this world do to relieve their life's STRESS. Its definately better than a guy who picks up drinking, smoking or even taking drugs to relieve stress in life.
.
Situation 3: Why we only have the most 2-3 pairs of shoes.
Reason: Its a fact that the longer we wear them, we develop feelings, and it true deep feelings. If we have many shoes, we dun feel this way anymore and we do feel insecure sometimes...
.
Situation 4: How come we always wear about the same clothes out?
Reason: Its because you girls have too many, which makes us (guys) looks having so few clothes.
.
Situation 5: Why we spend (time) on golf, rugby, TDF, etc.....
Reason: Then we have topic to chat with our boss (male), or sometime females bosses. Or how we survive?
.
Situation 5: Why we spend (time) on cartoons and anime?
Reason: Draw in generation gap between my kids, nahhhh just kidding... Its because there's a child in every man.
.
Situation 6: Spending on cars
Reason: Its just any men's second darling aka wife aka soulmate, it serve as a good sleeping place when wife throws me out.
.
Situation 7: Still buying toys at this age?
Reason: Do you have any idea how much it can sell for a popular retro, vintage or in high demand toy in this world? The answer is pretty alot more than any girls' shoes total up.
.
Situation 8: Buying a large plasma flat screen tv + recorder + dvd + surround system!
Reason: So we never miss out any characters in a game of football match just incase your boss ask you tml, etc..... And recording is just because it happens your neighbour is fighting next door! and you cannot do anyting about it.
.
Situation 9: Why spending so much on food?
Reason: Girls relax, so as long he dun eat to his death can liao~ Give him a break, he doesn't have to get a 24 inch waistline record.
.
Situation 10: Why spend~~~?
Reason: We just can't bring all to our next life, make good reasonable use of them!
.
.
.
To live in a harmony world, sometimes be it a girl or a guy in a relationship must really learn how to appreciate one's another activities. It may not make good sense but it drives a level of comfort in his doings. Jus bear in mind so as long it not illegal or harmful to his body..... Show a smile and give a pad on his shoulders for just a little support!
.
Cheers!

BRIANC: my three years in NTU (yr 1)

Year (1)
.
.
There's wenguang, junming and me together for the very first day in NTU, we were very much exicited for the opportunity to further our studies locally and most of all experience an university life with familar faces. Its truly a blessing that all or most passed their english pro test, thus ended up with just a mere 9 modules to handle for the 1st year. Its was still the SARs period at that moment and people were very concern with all stuffs, eg; taking temperatures before exams and even using deposable utensils for eating (something which I still find difficult to accept till then as food really taste "Urrrghhh" in it).
.
.
We soon found new "poly" mates in NTU..... Well, all thanks to the Economic tutorials we attended as those stay behind were apparently all polys..... hahaha, guess we are pretty lost at those times. Not forgetting the "chimchim" electrical module we took previously, which knocks some off their chairs~ Polys get closely together as all with the mindset to help one another out.... I tried to remember as much as possible because life in NTU really show me a dramatic culture change compare to poly-times. Things are moving more rapidly and soon everyone was busy with their own stuffs to handle. Although the first year was like a a hell-like tough blending in issue going on, we do have some times to do "some things" we enjoyed like: dipping in NIE pool, looking at girls in NTU although very few but least we got our all time fav "the big Missles at the front ger and naizhu's fav too, and also weeyong's fav in MLT that time!!!! hahahaha~
.
.
Soon exams were over, some make it well through but some didn't do as well.... Some left NTU, some fight on..... But in all till now, I'm proud of those who stay on together till then! Errr, yes yes, there's a chalet during the first year, the best part is well treating naizhu as POW , with bernice as our head commander.... while me and some were peeping through the window from the room enjoying the POW treatments...... hehehehe (no offence).
.
.
Well, putting everyting down kinda made me feel my stay in NTU isn't all about rushing for quizs and exams and projects..... There's still some fond enjoyable memories yeah.... The next best thing is MEPC, while everyone got to build a catapult...... This is the time our polys got to mix around with other JCs fellows. Another form of friendship forms!
.
.
While with all these events happening, be it studies related or friendship side.... I no longer say life in NTU is that boring, Its just that we never had though about it clearly and there's sure things enjoyable and non-enjoyable...... hehehe, but the best thing I felt soooooo far till then isn;t just finding a bunch of good friends in NTU, but also:
.
.
FINDING myself a PINGPONG PIG~~~~~ hahahaha
.
.
.
.
PS: some pic for enjoying
